The center envisages establishing independent and self contained food testing laboratories providing external Food Testing Services to other food industries and the likes, where there is chronic shortage to test certain parameters such as aflatoxin, pesticide residue, heavy metals etc. To realize this future plan, the Center has secured 3450 sq. meters of land from the regional administration, next to the center and preparation for the construction of the building is underway. A generator and bore hole that serves the laboratory are already in place. In addition to serving other clients, this laboratory will serve students of higher education to conduct research and get hands on experience during their internship programs at the center and will strengthen the university- industry linkage. To meet international standard and acceptance by the International Laboratories after fully complying with the set standards, it will be accredited by an International Accrediting Bodies for basic and highly essential parameters.
In such complex center and to reach the vision of center of excellence, the need of establishing a testing laboratory is a paramount importance. At present, the center is equipped with High performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Spectrophotometer, microbiological and chemistry laboratory. The HPLC, which an important instrument to test aflatoxin and crucial to the center, has been secured with the support of GTZ.
